On Wednesday, Alan Williams resigns as Bears Defensive Coordinator
Alan Williams Bears said in a statement, “I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history,”
Alan Williams aged 53, has been on a break from the Bears since last week, due to personal reasons.
And also he added in the statement that “I value the NFL shield and all that it stands for and after taking some time to address my health, I plan to come back and coach again,”
In a united front, the Bears and Williams’ lawyer dismissed a Chicago report of police activity at the team facility. According to Andrew M. Stroth, Williams’ personal attorney and a sports lawyer in Chicago, Williams respects the Chicago Bears a lot. He thought it was time to address his health and personal matters.
Following his defensive play calling duties against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday, Bears coach Matt Eberflus confirmed that he would continue to call the defense this upcoming Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs if there is no resolution with Williams.
The Bears made a strategic move in February 2022 when they hired Williams shortly after Eberflus took the reins as head coach. Williams had an intriguing history with the Indianapolis Colts, spending four seasons as the safeties coach and an earlier decade coaching defensive backs from 2002 to 2011 later Williams served as the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013, accumulating over three decades of coaching experience.
